By chance, I came across a reddit post today that proclaimed that the Neverwinter devs (are they even still at Cryptic?) are considering the notion of a Neverwinter Classic. Within less than 24 hours, it became the 9th most upvoted post of all time on the game's subreddit - we'll see how much further it goes.
Someone also posted a link to the survey itself - I don't know if it's legit, but I'm inclined to believe that it is. I filled it out either way, and if you're a former or current player of Neverwinter, I suggest you do too. It hit kind of hard to realise that I already fell into the "stopped playing more than 3 years ago" group.
I'm not sure a Neverwinter Classic would bring me back to the game for good, but I would definitely want to check it out, even if I'm not hopeful that the devs would be able to pull it off. I would love to go through the old levelling experience again, as well as be reminded of a time when enchantments and runestones were the only annoyingly obvious pay-to-win mechanic to worry about.
I saw some reference to this on one of the MMO news sites yesterday and they made it sound like a legit survey. I thought it was an in-game one though so maybe this is something else. I just filled it out anyway - thanks for the link. I wouldn't mind having a go at the old NW again.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is legit, as I received an official email about it on... Wednesday? Tuesday? Can't remember for certain. I don't know if I would want to check it out; I do kinda miss it at times while also being very glad I'm no longer playing it...
ReplyDeleteStill an interesting concept, though. I can certainly see a Classic mode for this game working relatively well.
Oh, you actually got the email? I checked my own inbox but found nothing.
DeleteAnd yeah, it probably still wouldn't be for you. "Your monetisation is predatory and I found myself spending too much money" wasn't an option in the poll...
